More Visitors

Our friends Jenny, Kent, Maddie and Sophie came over to visit today. For years they have been the only ones with kids. We're happy to join the club.

Crafty Friends

Lyman's cousin Kathy made Milo this beautiful sweater and hat. I regret that he will soon out grow it, but my friend Jenny gave us the good idea to buy a teddy bear who can wear it so we can keep admiring it.

At the media shower hosted by my sister Kelly and Milo's godmother Kathy the guests designed onsies. While we love all the Colts inspired designs, I love this one made by Sherri, Kathy's mom.

Welcome Home Daddy

Finally Daddy's home! Both my boys are very happy to be reunited, and I am so relieved to have another set of hands for those times when, you know, I need to brush my teeth.

First Trip to the Zoo

Here's Milo getting ready to go to the zoo with our best friends Jenny, Maddie and Sophie. This outfit is size newborn, and it's still too big for him even at 9 lb 6 oz!
Milo didn't care too much about the sea lion show this time. We also saw a bird show which was a great place to breast feed. Maddie, age 3, was unimpressed with the birds. She said she didn't like the show, but she would like to see the show the next time we come back. Too cute.

More Visitors

Our good friends who are also from the midwest, Jeff and Anne, came to visit Milo when he was two weeks old. If Jeff's mom sees this, he's in trouble because she is so ready to be a grandma!

My good friend, Martine, from my school counseling program came to see Milo. She brought beautiful clothes for Milo and gorgeous flowers for Mommy. You can tell she's an experienced Auntie from how happy Milo is with her.

one month checkup

Our Milo will be one month old on Monday! I can't believe how fast time is going by. We saw the doctor today for his check-up, and he is doing really well. He has grown 2 inches to 22, and he weighs 9 lb. 6 oz. Maybe now he'll start to fit into all of his newborn clothes that have been hanging unworn for the past month. As fast as the time seems to go I am sure he'll be out of them before I want him to be. Now that all our helpful company have gone, Milo and I spend our days hanging out together watching junk TV while Milo eats, we walk Murphy with Milo in the bijorn carrier and try and nap in the afternoon. There isn't much sleep at night lately with only one 3-4 stretch and then a few more cat naps before I give up and just turn on the coffee pot. It's so nice to have nowhere to be most days and have a sweet little guy for company.

Milo's Activities

When we first got home from the hospital, Murphy was pretty angry with me. He refused to sit on my lap even if someone else was holding Milo. Now, he piles on wherever we are and is adjusting to his new walking schedule and partners other than me.

Finally, here is a picture of Milo in the tub without tears and screams. It turns out he does like to relax in the warm water, but he hates to have his face and hair wet. The bath ended in tears when those body parts were washed, but we had fun for a while.

Kathy had never been to In n Out so,of course, I had to take her. She and Milo shared their first experience together.

All these activities makes a small boy very tired!

The Huntington

This morning, I woke up expecting hectic preparation and a long drive to yet another doctor appointment (there are so many in the first few weeks of a baby and new mommy's life). Milo's stomach didn't want to cooperate with my plans, and he wanted to eat (again!) when it was time to get in the car. So, I called the doctor to ask if we could be late or if we should reschedule, and it turns out my appointment isn't until next week! So, all dressed and lovely, we headed out for a fun day at the Huntington Gardens and Library. Kathy and I had tea in the Rose Garden Tea Room, and Kathy gave Milo his second bottle. Everyone ohhed and ahhed at him in the tea room. Kathy asked me if I liked the mommy attention; I told her I could listen to people tell me how beautiful my son is all day!

I mean, come on, how sweet is this boy?

Daddy we miss you. Hurry home.

Kathy Arrives!

Kathy has come to LA to meet little Milo! She arrived yesterday and was greeted with heavy traffic on the freeway home. To avoid sitting for hours in traffic, we stopped off at Santa Monica for the afternoon. Milo saw (sort of) the ocean for the first time and meet another grad. school friend of mine,Celeste, and her daughter.

Oh the afternoon just wore Milo out!

Family

Grandma Donna arrived last week to meet her new grandson. He's going to miss her so much when she goes home in a few days. She has been very helpful around the house and keeping our little guy happy.

Grandma Penny and Grandpa Dave stayed with us a few days after we came home from the hospital. They were so helpful around the house! Poor Grandpa didn't get much cuddle time with Grandma in the house, but we'll see them again soon this summer.

Everyone who came to visit us has been so kind to our little Murphy who has felt a little slighted even though we love him so much! He's getting used to having a new friend in the house even though he has to wait a little longer for his walk and there is a lot of loud crying going on during diaper changes.

Hospital Visitors

When we were in the hospital, several people came to meet little Milo. Here is Grandma and Grandpa Rinehart meeting him for the first time.

Here is Milo with Aunt Kelly on his second day of life.

Ivan and Lesli came by the night before we came home from the hospital.

Theresa and Liam also stopped by after school to meet Milo.

Lyman's friend Pasta and my best friend Jenny also came by. We forgot to snap a photo, but it was great to see them too!

One-Week

Here's our Milo, one week old. Can you believe it? Sometimes we feel like we just brought him home and other moments it feels like he's been here for weeks. He's a really good eater and he even lets us sleep at night for more than two hours at a time. A few times he's even slept for a four-hour stretch. We had our one-week check-up appointment at the pediatrician today; Milo now weighs 7 lbs. 10 oz. on an empty stomach.

In the photos he's waking up from a nap. As you can see he's ready for his next meal.
