What's Doing?

Milo and I spent a lovely afternoon at the zoo today. Here he is in the petting area with the goats. Those goats have a lot of fortitude to handle dozens of kids all over them.
Today was a rare day at the zoo in that we saw animals in almost every exhibit! This surprised me since we got there very late in the day. We usually arrive first thing and are waiting for them to open the gate to avoid crowds, lines and get really tired to take a great nap. However, this morning, I didn't want to rush out of the house. Lucky we didn't because where we usually see none or just one mercat standing sential, we saw five out at once! We love these little guys. They are super cute, but, evidently, they will bite your hand off for some kettle corn. Since we arrived late, and had little expectations that we would see a lot of animals, we headed for the playland. Talk about a zoo. I couldn't get Milo out of there fast enough. It's never like this during opening hours!

Two!

"Happy two, two to you!" That's Milo's little song to himself. Too cute! He had his two year check-up last week; the doctor was very pleased to hear that he could put three words together and was a little above average in both height (32 in) and weight (28lbs) making him healthily proportional. She said he looked great, we were doing a great job as parents and should have another one! Oh, that doctor, she doesn't know everything, but she is right about how wonderful Milo is!
Here are some pictures of Milo playing with Lyman at the park last Saturday on a cool morning. Those morning are over for now, as it has been near 80's the past two days. Grandma and Grandpa pack your shorts!

Nummy

Milo is still lovin his nummy. I was so happy when the nurse gave us his first one the night he was born, and he loved it! It still has the same magical calming effect on him, and, consequently, me.

A Day with the Girls

We spent last Sunday with our favorite three girls in town at the park to ride another train and merry go round. Grandpa Dave and Grandma Penny we look forward to taking you there when you're here next month!

Crazy about Trains

Milo and I spent the afternoon looking at and riding trains. First, we went to this "attraction" where you paid a donation to ride this very small train. Milo just hit the height requirement. It was so small and slow, that you just straddled the bench and put your feet on running boards beside while you went through the "woods" with little fake mining towns displayed. Milo loved it especially when he saw that one of the small trains was painted like Thomas! Then, we found a Railroad Museum with a larger, faster train to ride (like one you would find at a zoo). He also liked this ride, but really enjoyed walking on the train tracks and picking up rocks.

The Big Bash

Saturday we had this nice party for Milo at Gymboree. We have gone to their classes off and on since August, and Milo loves it. At first glance, the parties seem expensive, but it was worth every penny. Actually, considering I had very little to set up, almost nothing to clean up and a teacher who led the party with cheerful enthusiasm, it was a steal. The hardest and worst part, was that I did ninety percent of it alone. Poor Lyman caught this horrible stomach bug on Friday. He was way too sick to pick up the food and only had the energy to help me with a few trips to the car. We thought he might have to miss the party altogether, but thankfully he felt up to making an appearance during the second half. I was so happy that he could come and see Milo and everyone having a great time even if he couldn't be in the mix with us. Thanks to Lesli and Ivan we have these fun shots and some great video of the afternoon. I think I only managed to snap two or three, so I am so thankful they picked up my camera so often. All of our invited guests with little ones turned out for the event and most of our child free (so named by my sister Kelly) friends came and joined in the silliness that is kids birthday parties.

Cake!

Thanks to my trial run, my final cake turned out quite well. In fact, I don't what what I got more of, compliments on my hair or this cake. It didn't just look good either, that's the cake, well, and me.

Turning Two

Milo's actual birthday was on Thursday, but the big party wasn't until Saturday. I wanted to do a little something to acknowledge the day, and have a trial run of the cake. I'm so glad I did, because this cake is obnoxious! Lyman took a gig that night, but our best friends Lesli and Ivan came over to help me document the evening and eat some of the cake; the rest went to school the next day.
