Daddy!

Daddy came home today. It's always such a relief. I think I do a more than decent job with my little guy, but it's nice to have a partner when you kid, say, locks himself in your bedroom. Good thing supermom knows how to pick the lock. We were so happy to see Daddy, but we're off to the Hoosier state tonight. More blogging to follow next week when we get home.

16 Months

Look at this 16 month old boy. He's remarkable! He's very physical- running, climbing, and eating with a fork. He's not a big talker. I think he can say apple. It kind of sounds like A-pl and he only says it when eating applesauce, so sure, it's apple.

We hit the playland for the second time this week. Milo loved it, and he found this pink purse as his favorite toy of the day.

Goodbye

We spent Thursday night saying goodbye to our good friends Theresa and Liam who are moving on to the cooler days, cloudier skies and cleaner air of the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, Milo was out of sorts that evening. He was tired I think, and was very crabby and clingy. It was exhausting and frustrating because I really wanted to spend some quality time with my friends. I know they know that we love them and we're so excited for them both to make this exciting life change. Theresa was one of my first friends after moving here 8 years ago. She gave me two great gifts- she introduced me to Jenny and later recommended me to Milo's caregiver Betty- two people I can't imagine living without. She also helped organize lots of other gifts for Milo in co-hosting his baby shower. Liam has been a great friend and helper to Milo. He had babysat him several times this spring. We'll miss you guys. Liam I'm waiting to read your blog!

Magical

I took a million pictures of Milo this day we went to the park (again with our favorite Jenny, Maddie, Sophie trio). He's just knocks me out with his, usually, sweet temperament and curious nature. I was really pouty when he turned 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and a year. I was so sad to say goodbye to the infant stage. I'm over all that pouting now because he is so fun and can do so much more. He's magical.

Playland

We launched summer break with lots of fun activities this week. My friend Jenny introduced me to these indoor play places which are perfect for 100+ degree days. Milo loves it there, and so do I. Lots of toys, safe, no clean up and other pleasant moms. We'll be there a lot I think.

Shiner

Look at that shiner! Mr. Climber climbed too high, fell and left this ugly mess. Oh well. It'll fade soon, and he'll get another. In other news, look at his little fork (one of Mommy's when she was small). Grandma Penny taught him to use it when she was here, and now he likes sitting and eating in his chair much more. Other news is another school year has passed. As an eighth grade counselor, it was a race to the end. I went into work at 6:00 two days this week to avoid going into work at all next week. I had three very long days with a small retirement dinner Monday, eight grade awards night Tuesday and a larger retirement party Thursday. Milo came out to the party Thursday night since Lyman scheduled a gig that was further away in traffic than he thought. Milo was a hit! Everyone loved him and commented on how beautiful he is. He wasn't so sure about them clutching my arm all the while; I'm sure he'll warm up to the Hoosier crowd quicker.
Today was the eight grade ceremony- which was held outside on a basketball court with 100+ degree temperature at 9:00 am. The heat was similar to my own graduation 2 years ago. I wore the same sundress under a similar robe with velvet master's hood, and I think I sweat just as much. It was a lovely ceremony where I passed out certificates and tried not to cry many times as kid after kid shook my hand. It's hard not to forget all the tears they or their parents cried in my office this year; I was so proud of them today.
Sorry its been so long since I last blogged. Now it's summer, and I can be more up to date. Love to you all.

Father's Day

We spent father's day at our good friend's house with a cookout, Tiger and Kobe. I think the dads had a good time. The week before father's day, I saw all these TV commercials for golf shirts, ties, and grilling accessories. We got ours a PSP game. That's our kind of Daddy.

Dinner with Friends

Milo loves eating at Sophie and Maddie's house. He'll eat things there that he won't eat at home if he sees that's what the girls like, but Kent Cajun Chicken was too much for him. I hope we have a lot of playdates this summer!

Day with Daddy

I found these pictures on the camera today. Lyman watches Milo a lot when he's home, and it's fun to see how they spend their afternoons.

Grandma and the Zoo

Saturday we went to the zoo for some sunshine and, obviously, lots of climbing!

Here are Grandma and Milo watching the monkeys. We have loved having Grandma here for such a nice long visit. Good thing we'll see her and everyone else soon, so it won't be THAT hard to say goodbye, but it's going to be strange to wake up tomorrow without her.

Day at the Park

Look at the determination in his little walk! He's already outgrown these shoes. Six
6XW now!

Fun with Grandma

Milo was super excited about walking Murphy around the park. Come on Murphy!

Murphy is not as excited about walking.
Where's Grandma?

TV

Oh my gosh, Milo loves this show. It's crazy. The other night, I needed a minute to get something done, so I went to the kids on demand menu clicked BBC, Rosie and Jim and Milo was captivated. It's no where near as good as Sesame Street (Milo only pays attention to Elmo's World) or this other Miss. Spider show we watched, but he loves it. He smiles this giddy smile, dances to the songs and sits and watches the whole thing. Isn't it wild what kids like? Before all you judges out there start judging, he doesn't watch that much TV. Now he watches one Rosie and Jim, and he's in the room during one morning "news" show, two or three cooking shows, one Daily Show, and, if Daddy's home, about three ball games and maybe a Taxicab Confession. I think he'll still go to college.
