Nonna's Visit- Week One

Nonna has come for a long visit now that she is retired. We have been super busy, since the first week of her visit was also our spring break. We started with the movie Noah. M was really interested in this movie, so after reading the story in the Bible and watching all the You Tube trailers we went. He didn't think it would be too scary for him. Some parts were really scary for me, but it's a very well made movie, and we all enjoyed it. All our days have been nice and sunny, so one afternoon we headed to the beach where we ate barefoot at a sandy cafe and watched M play and play in the surf with the other boys there.
Before Easter, we joined our pals at the Adobe ranch for spring fun and an egg hunt. We all loved that M wore a cowboy outfit.

Daddy's new college teaching job didn't have the same spring break as us, but one day we met him on his lunch break. The college where he teaches is right in the heart of Hollywood, so after lunch we saw the new Muppet movie at the El Capitan theatre.
The theatre had props and costumes from the movie, but my favorite part was a live performance before the movie from Kermit and Piggy where they sang four songs including Rainbow Connection.

Another afternoon, we went to the Skirball where they were having a special exhibit of Ezra Jack Keats "The Snowy Day" and illustrations from many of his 80 books. It was the most charming instillation I have ever seen with interactive elements, digital books in each gallery and other features to highlight his amazing illustrations. If this exhibit comes to your town, go see it.

In keeping with the Noah theme of the week, we also saw Noah's Ark which is a permanent exhibit there. Outside, M did an archaeological dig.

It doesn't seem like there would be time, but on top of it all, Lyman took M and D to Wonder Con in Anaheim. Does it look like M had a good time?
Finally, it's Easter always the last day of our break. One last fun day before we're back to school for the final weeks. Milo woke up excited about his eggs hidden in the house and all the goodies in his basket. Happy Easter everyone. I hope this spring is full of fun and love.

San Fransisco

After a great trip last summer, we were so excited to be able to go back to San Fransisco again for Cesar Chavez three day weekend. This time, we planned in advance and booked our boat trip out to Alcatraz island. Before going, Milo and I watched a Netflix documentary about famous escape attempts, and he enjoyed seeing all that in person. Here he is with a fake head that prisoners used to try and fool the guards
As you can imagine, the jail is a very grim place. In contrast, the grounds surrounding the jail are lush and beautiful. I loved the views of the city and all the unique plants. That morning and the whole way there on the boat, it poured rain, but while we were there it stopped long enough for us to walk around outside.

The next day, we went back down to the pier to visit the Exploratorium. This is a museum like no other! Our pal Lindsay recently moved up to San Fran, and we had a nice time catching up with her there as well. In addition to our adventures in the city, we had a great time in our fancy hotel with an big indoor pool and spa. I hope Lyman plays there again soon!

Wall Design

Milo was so proud of this thing he made with Lyman. He wanted to play in this area twice.
