Medieval Times

For our President's Day off and Milo's 6th birthday approaching, we drove to Buena Park for Medieval Times spectacular.

We were assigned the red and gold knight to root for.

Milo chose this Robin Hood hat as a prize.
There were many beautiful Andalusian horses who's coats gleamed a silvery purple in the lights.
Of course, there was jousting, sword fighting and games performed by noble knights for the King and his fair princess. Milo sat with glued eyes to all the action. His food he did not touch.
The food was all eaten by hand- really, no forks or knives. We had garlic bread, dragon soup (the bowl had a little knob to hold) roast chicken, potato wedges, a rib and an apple tart. It was messy, but good.

A last look at me on the throne. It was a fun day. Our package came with a DVD and program book, and I was glad to have them. Milo has watched the DVD 20 times and took the book to school to share.

Be My Valentine?

Which heart do you love best? Milo painted them all on the card he gave me and Lyman.

Here is Milo's Valentine Mailbox for class. We did it as a family project with Milo's direction.
Look at it that night after school!  Hardly anyone gave just a card; most had a candy, pencil or eraser attached. Milo's had sticky hands to match the creepy bug design.

Reagan Library

A few weeks back, Milo and I visited the Reagan Library.  We had a great time spending several hours looking at Nancy's clothes, the gun that nearly killed Reagan, a piece of the Berlin Wall and eating at their super cafe. This is the Air Force One that Bush, Reagan and Clinton used. Then Clinton, Bush and Obama got a new one that is 2x bigger. It didn't look or feel anything like the movie where Harrison Ford plays the president and the plane is hijacked. It felt really small and cramped, but nice.
At this point, you could pretend to be inaugurated. I wanted Milo to be in the picture, and he said no. He told me to be in the picture, and I didn't care to. But then he asked if it was because girls can't be president. So then I had to hand him my camera, hold him to take my picture because I believe a I will see a woman president of the United States in my lifetime.
There is an exact replica of Reagan's Oval Office which is lovely.

There was a lot about Nancy and Ron in Hollywood and on their CA ranch.
One of the other reasons we went was there was a touring exhibit of Disney Treasures on display. There were costumes, set models and props from many Disney movies. I love looking at stuff like that with the beautiful details, and of course Milo loved recognising the movies he knew.

Almost 6

When you're almost 6, it's super fun to be a Ninja Turtle on a minimum day at kindergarten.

For Western wear dress up day, it's fun to use costume parts from Dracula, Ninja Turtles and Toy Story.
When you're almost 6, any place is a fun place to play until your mom tells you to get down or no jumping or stomping until after 10 am because the neighbors downstairs might still be sleeping.
Loosing two front teeth happens when you're almost 6. So does getting the flu. wanting a brother, watching your dog get older and asking 5 million questions a day because when you're almost 6 the possibilities are endless.
