11 months

Milo turned 11 months today, and he's amazing! Here are some stats:
he has 4 teeth
he can stand for about 10 seconds
he can climb the entire staircase
he cruises around the furniture
he eats real, adult food
he says dada and mama
he can wave
he loves to chase his dog Murphy and
he gives a tearjerker hug

Angel or Devil?

Look at these faces! Generally, Milo has this ethereal expression like the one above, but this other one comes out every once in a while.

New Menu

Milo has been trying many new foods lately. This week for dinner, he had tofu, string cheese, black beans and sweet potatoes. He likes most everything we give him. Any other toddler friendly foods you recommend?
Take a look at these long legs!

Busy Boy

Milo at 10 3/4 months.

Where's my duck?

Milo outgrew his duck, but he seems to like his freedom in the big tub.

Puke

Oh man did we have a night. After I got home from a busy day at school, we had several errands that needed to be run. I hate doing this on a school night, but sometimes there aren't enough hours in the weekend. In the middle of the errands, we went to one of our favorite barbecue places for dinner. I try and keep Milo's tummy on somewhat of a schedule. Sometimes I wonder why I try- like tonight.

While L and I waited for dinner to come to out table, I fed Milo is carrots and some fruit. He was a happy, smiling, laughing baby charming the whole place. Our dinner came and then he acted like he might be choking. So, I snatched him to to give him a thump on the back and the flood gates of puke opened. Gross. All over the table, floor, his clothes, my clothes, my hair... Lyman took him out, I paid the bill, left a big tip and fled the scene; I know I won't be back for a long time.

Yuck.

10 Months

So far, this is the most excitement Milo has shown about his cup. I think he may of gotten something out of it this time! Usually he just bangs it around. I have been begging him to drink this weekend, since he has had a little stomach bug with some vomiting and diarrhea- yuck. On Saturday, he started the day puking all over Daddy and ended it pooping on Mommy. Ah, parenthood. We hope it will pass in a few days, but just when I think the symptoms are gone, he explodes again.

Check out Milo's new shoes! Aren't they the cutest? They even have the little shoelace bells! Now that he's thinking about standing and maybe walking in a month or two (or three or four- I'm in no rush), I figured he needed some real support. When he was measured at Stride Rite, he was a double wide! The sales lady said these 3XW would last 3-5 months. So, that's at least one new pair of shoes 3 times a year. Do I buy that many new shoes for myself? I guess so. Each fall, I usually buy new working shoes. I just wear one pair to death, instead of wearing 20 over and over as I know some people like to do, but I have a small closet. Then each spring I buy 1 or 2 pairs of sandals for the same reason. My feet don't even grow, so I guess it's not crazy that Milo will need that many. I have said this a million times, but I don't think on the blog. There is such inequity in children's clothing and shoes. There is 75% more stuff out there for girls than boys. It's frustrating, but also money saving. I mean, I picked out the cutest boy shoes from a selection of 2 styles in 3 colors each. Easy and quick decision. If I had a girl, I would have taken forever to choose, and I probably would have bought 3 pairs. So, I guess there is a sliver lining.

Thanks for the presents, but...

Like most babies, Milo loved these "gifts" this year. Thankfully, L dropped his phone in the sink, so Milo could have this electrically fried hand me down.

Our break is almost over. Boohoo. Three weeks went by too quickly. I know Milo will be happy to be back with Betty and the other kids, but I'll miss spending long days with him. There is a lot of crap in public schools, and it turns out the dental plan doesn't cover much besides cleanings (I have a cracked tooth) but you can't beat the vacation time.

Welcome Cousin

Cousin Connie with K and Carrie
Christmas 2007

Milo's first cousin was born last night! Welcome to the world Nathan James! He was born at 12:45ish and weighed 7lbs 10oz and is 21 inches (almost the same as Milo). His Daddy said his Mommy did a wonderful job in all 28 hours or so of labor, and they are doing great. A boy. In a year or two, we won't even be able to see the 10 month difference between him and Milo. I hope they will be close- not just family but friends like I am with my cousins.
