Saturday we went to a birthday party for one of my counseling program friend's daughter. It was a perfect Santa Monica (this is becoming a popular trend for us!) escape from a hot weekend at home. Party Time
Saturday we went to a birthday party for one of my counseling program friend's daughter. It was a perfect Santa Monica (this is becoming a popular trend for us!) escape from a hot weekend at home. The party had lots of fun crafts, games and food, and Milo cried and cried when we had to leave!Sweet Dreams
We have had kind of a rough time in the sleep department the past three weeks. It started the week before I went back to work with bed time getting later and later and more of a struggle. Then I went back to work, Lyman went on a few tours, Milo started a new daycare/preschool and the monsters moved in his room. Many of you gave us great advice (transition objects, talismans, monster spray, etc...) for evicting the monsters, and mostly they are gone, but night time and nap time are still erratic. This is normal for some parents, but we have been spoiled with a great sleeper for the past two years, so this was painful. Thankfully, now the screaming at night has stopped, but all bets are off for how long or where he will spend the night sleeping. Above he is pictured in his crib somewhat converted to a toddler bed. Those two little pillows, did little to make him feel secure in his bed, or help my aching body when I found myself on his floor or in that little bed with him. So, below you see him with my air mattress where I find myself settling him in or crashed in the middle of the night when he calls. The last picture is him making himself very much at home on both beds. For those of you worried about the stairs, don't. Last night he made his way down alone at 5 am. Usually he calls out, and I come quickly as I haven't been in a deep sleep many nights the past three weeks, but he made it alone safe and sound. He's pretty tough, unless you're a monster, then all bets are off.Monday, September 07, 2009
