Where did the baby go?

I don't know how many times a day I say, "Where is that tiny baby I had?" Just look at him. He's head to toe in his little bath, he'll sit up an splash and he doesn't scream bloody murder when th water hits his head. I love this big boy and his wonderful personality. He's so strong and sweet. His smile is like a drug to me- I can't get enough. Thank goodness I still have the rest of the summer to spend all day with him.

Good Things

Two things Milo loves:
sitting in his bumbo on the kitchen counter while I do dishes.
his purple Patty the Platty beanie baby from Greatest Aunt Carol.

Anniversary

We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary this past Sunday with Milo at a great Sushi place. I don't eat sushi, but they had a great Japanese menu with cooked food as well. Here's Milo trying out a sushi roll- just kidding- maybe next year! Actually, Milo doesn't care for rice at all. He just won't eat that cereal, not even when I mix it with juice. I think I'll give him a few more weeks before I try again. I'm sick of hearing him scream like I'm feeding him poision when I put it in his mouth. Even without the cereal, he is sleeping much better, and, of course, by that I mean longer streches. Good boy!

New Menu

We saw the doctor this Thursday over a little cold. While we were there, I asked about Milo's eating and sleeping habits which includes eating in the night sometimes more than once. The doctor thought at nearly four months and 16.5 lbs. he should be able to sleep a little longer. Perhaps he wants a bit more? So, now he eats rice cereal. As you can see, he wasn't quite sure what to think of it. He still isn't quite sure, and often sputters it out and cries for his bottle, but we'll figure it out. As for the sleeping, the first night he had the cereal, he was up every three hours! The next night, with no cereal, he slept 9.5 hours straight, and, last night, with better timed cereal, he slept 8 hours straight. Oh, new parents, we don't get much sleep, but we sure do talk an awful lot about it!

I guess we weren't cramped enough in our small home,,,

...because we went out and bought the last, large baby item we didn't have- an excersaucer! Milo does love this thing, and, if it makes him happy, it makes everyone happy. Here is Milo checking out the Dodgers score from his new seat.

Happy Father's Day

Happy First Father's Day!
Love, Carrie and Milo

Cherries!

Grandma Donna and her sister, Greatest Aunt Carol, are crazy about cherries. When his T was spotted, Grandma just had to buy it for Milo.

More Lovin...

Milo went to meet Toni and her husband Derrold when we got back in Indianapolis.

Here is Milo playing with Toni's granddaughter. The last time we saw her was at our wedding 7 years ago- my how she has grown! I know many people will have this reaction to Milo over the coming years since we live far away. Hopefully with the blog, you all will feel like you know him and his growth won't be such a shock when we come to visit.

Jason and Chloe play with Milo our last night in Indianapolis.

Abby and Ryan joined us for dinner the last night as well. We had such a great visit with two wonderful parties, a beautiful baptism and many, many visits in between. Milo is offically spoiled rotten as I always knew my child would be.

Chicago Reunion

While we were in Chiacgo, K and M were generous enough to host some of our old friends who now live there. We had a nice cookout in their back garden one evening.

Lyman and Evin met at Ball State, then they reconnected in LA a few years ago. Now he and his wife Lisa live in Chicago.

Lyman also met Jason at Ball State. Here are newlyweds, Jason and Heidi, with Lyman. Thanks for hosting the reunion Kelly and Mike!

Chicago

In the middle of our trip to IN, we took a road trip to Chicago to visit Milo's Auntie Kelly and Uncle Mike in their charming new home. It was a hot day in the yard; here's Milo cooling off with Grandpa Dave.

Grandma Penny worked up a sweat in K and M's garden.

Family Ties

I think everyone had a great time at Milo's party. Almost all our immediate and extended family came to celebrate. It was wonderful to see family I hadn't seen for years. Sherri is like family- she is Milo's Uncle Sam's Godmother and her daughter, Kathy, is Milo's Godmother.

Here is Sherri's son John, who did not, as he feared he would, break the baby.

Long time friends-Kathy, April and Carrie

This amazing cake was half lemon and half strawberry- there wasn't a crumb left!

Milo and his Greatgrandma Jean

Uncle Doug made an uncharacteristic apperance at the party. He gave Milo a special gift- the bible he was presented for his confirmation which was the same year Milo's mom was born!

Milo with Cousin Sarah. I wish I had pictures of Sarah's Grandma and Grandpa (my Uncle Wayne and Aunt Betty) and her mom (my Cousin Sue) and her Uncle Steve and his wife Elaine and their daughters Renee and Emily who were all there to celebrate with us, but I guess I didn't take as many pictures as I thought.

Here's Milo with his Great Uncle Randy who came with his wife Debby.

Milo's Baptism

Here we are with Milo's Godparents Kathy and Andy and Pastor after a beautiful service. Milo slept during most of the service and didn't even cry when the water hit his head.

The last time we had this line-up in this church was at our wedding (minus Milo, of course).

Milo's Grandma Penny made him this amazing gown. He was the sweetest boy!

Our House is your house...

Well, Jan and Vince's house is anyway. Donna's friends were so generous to lend their home for the open house. We all had a lovely afternoon showing off sweet Milo. Here I am with Aunt Denise- if she hadn't encouraged Lyman to compete in public speaking little Milo wouldn't be.
