Grandparents Week 1

Mom and Dad came for a nice two week visit, and boy did we pack it in!  The first full day they were here, the water was shut off in our complex!  So off we went to the Petersen Auto Museum where we spent hours watching Dad look look at cars.
There is also a kid floor where dad raced cars with all the kids there.
I think this MUST be the last visit where Grandpa is going to be able to pull this move off.
The next day, we hit the long, hot road to Phoenix, AZ where we have a group of cousins. These are two of Milo's four cousins from Dad's side of the family. The boys joined forces right away and had a great time playing and swimming together.
This is the front yard of our cousin's home. Look out LA, with this drought we'll have this landscape too. I actually think it's really beautiful and loved looking around.

For a home project, I enlisted my Mom and Dad to help with my dining room chairs. Don't they look AMAZING?  It's even indoor/outdoor fabric that can be wiped with a swipe. I love them!

Another day, we went to a public pool that Milo loves with these water sprays and a slide. More fun in the next post...

Grandparents Week 2

The second week of Grandpa Dave and Grandma Penny's trip went faster than the first, if possible. We still kept up with Milo's taekwondo twice a week and once a week piano on top of all the other fun sights to see. Whenever we had a down minute, it was off to our pool.
On July 4th, we went to the LACMA for the afternoon to see the Metropolis II exhibit that I knew my Dad would love. Here is Mom with Chris Burden's other city inspired piece. The night, mom and I went to see Lyman play while Dad and Milo stayed home with Murphy who was in the closet scared of the fireworks.

Then the next day, we went a bit north to Newhall to the William S Hart Ranch. Hart was a cowboy movie star. You can see a small herd of buffalo from this overlook...

and feed the many animals that make their home there. Our favorite was this deer who ate right out of our hands.
The last thing we did was head up the mountain to Lake Arrowhead to stay in a cabin for two nights. It had a nice deck on the back where we grilled all or part of our meals, three beds and baths so we could spread out and a lake pass to play in the sand, skip rocks and swim. It was a very relaxing end to a busy trip. I hope I didn't wear my parents out and they want to come back soon to visit!

Summer's Start

Summer is here, but even before school was out, we saw a Dodger game with Milo's school PTA. It was free helmet night too.

I had to take this picture to remember the many, many trips to Costco Milo and I have taken.
We have been going to a newly renovated park in town that has all new play things and a splash pad too.
We got the Universal Studios pass again this year, and I am glad we did. They have a whole new wing for kids based in Despicable Me that is super cute. Next up there is Harry Potter land but not for another year and a half. It is exciting to see the construction, and has made Milo want to read the books which I am more than happy to do again.
